Lets Detox!

This is an article written by yours truly! It contains valuable information ABOUT YOUR SKIN.Take the time to read. DO NOT STAY UNEDUCATED ON THE SIMPLE YET NOTABLE TOPICS OF LIFE.

The holiday parties are over and you look in the mirror and think "what happened to my rosy cheeks and glowing skin ?" Your skin is feeling the effects of every delicious cocktail you've consumed. You take a closer look and you see dehydration has given you the biggest slap to the face. Plus your eyes look as though you've danced in the ring with the great Muhammad Ali. Honey it is time for a SKIN detox! Here is a 5 step guide to achieving your glow back!

STEP 1: PURGING

The first thing you need to do is drink as much water as you can.Water is your only friend at this crucial time. It's the miracle cure to any concerns you may have and it also flushes out the toxins in the body--as well as the kidneys.Water will hydrate you, regulate body temperature, and aid in digestion. Drink as much water as you can for the next few days.Your going to need the hydration! Cut out the soda, juice, coffee and red bulls ; it's time to purge! Stock your fridge with bottles of water.Take out anything that may tempt your will.Drink at LEAST 8 glasses a day and exercise 20-30 minutes a day.You can jog, walk your dog, or just pace around the house on the telephone. Also get 8 hours of beauty rest. You'll thank yourself in the morning. And don't forget to stay hydrated!

STEP 2: ANTIOXIDANTS

An Antioxidant is a substance that protects the skin from free radical production, environmental damage, and pre-mature aging. It also aids in the overall health and appearance of the skin. Some of the benefits of antioxidants are as follows:

1-Skin Firming

2-Anti-Inflammatory

3-Reduces appearance of wrinkles 4-Repairs sun damage

Here are the main antioxidants in food and their main dietary sources:

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) — fresh fruits and vegetables. Vitamin E (tocopherols, tocotrienols) — vegetable oils, nuts, mangoes, broccoli. Vitamin A — carrots, sweet potato, milk, eggs. Polyphenolic antioxidants (resveratrol, flavonoids) — tea, coffee, fruit, olive oil, chocolate, cinnamon, red wine. Carotenoids (lycopene, carotenes, lutein) — fresh fruit and vegetables, eggs.

Some yummy foods with Antioxidants are: -Berries(the highest antioxidant food available)Great to make a smoothie with! -Green tea(disclaimer-contains caffeine) -Pomegranate -Red Apples -Tomatoes -Sweet Potato

STEP 3:Keep it Simple

During your detox your not going to do much to your skin;only cleansing and moisturizing. As a skin therapist I have noticed the less is better.Over usage of products only leads to flaking, dry, oily, and blemished skin.During your detox you want to purge your body of any unwanted chemicals and toxins. Stick with a mild cleanser and moisturizer and I promise your skin will do the talking.

STEP 4:IT'S SKIN TIME

So its a few days later and you've finished your detox and your feeling great! You should notice the color coming back to the skin from the steady blood flow.Your eyes don't look as tired, and your hair even has a little shine and color. Now what's next for your skin? It's time to put your best face forward. You'll need a little "me" time.Book a facial or a massage. Request your therapist to use a treatment that promotes radiance and glow to the skin. Key points in your service should be:

-An exfoliating cleanser to clean and sloth off those dead skin cells -A mask to introduce nutrients and promote a healthy glow. -A serum to further improve your smooth texture and glowing skin -Also a hydrating creme to seal in moisture and smoothness.

STEP5: PAT YOURSELF ON THE BACK!

You've come along way and you should be proud! You look and feel amazing. What more can you ask for?Just don't forget to smile and always put your best face forward! And remember HYDRATE,HYDRATE,HYDRATE!
